First, download the Microsoft Office Compatibility pack. Next, download the Viewer of you choice. You should now be able to access the files no matter what the version.

10. Is there a way to print PowerPoint slides 3 or 6 slides per page so that I can save paper?

Yes, the South College Printing PowerPoint Slides guide will show you how. You can also print in pure black and white to save color toner if your printout does not need color.

11. What is the difference in the Student Portal and Moodle?

The Student Portal is a web site that provides a point of secure entry to information allowed to be accessed only by South College students, faculty or staff. The Student Portal will allow you to access grades (which are no longer sent through traditional mail), schedules, a course catalog, fee payment, current GPA, GPA calculator, financial aid information, scholarship information, credits earned information, advisor information, message alert center, calendar, resume, job search information, tutoring information, disability information, use the Moodle course management system, and access the Southern Digest. Moodle is South College’s learning management system. This system is an electronic environment that allows South College to provide an “electronic classroom” to support your face-2-face classes. The Moodle classroom allows your instructor to post assignments, quizzes, websites, communications, etc. for you. You can submit your homework electronically, as well as communicate with your classmates and instructor via the system. You access your Moodle course sites through the Student Portal.

12. My instructor stated I must use  South College email instead of  GMail or Hotmail for campus communications and Moodle.
Why
?

Students have various e-mail accounts. It is impossible for South College to maintain which account is working and which account a student is accessing and using. By mandating that all students/faculty/staff use South College accounts, we can assure no interruption (or little downtime) in service.

13. South College is now using online course evaluations instead of paper. I would like more information on that process.

The Online Course Evaluation Page contains information about the process. We understand your concern about confidentiality. At South, we take all measures to make sure your anonymity is protected.
